The Next Voyage Begins

The next round of presentation mailers for There But for the Grace of is now being prepared.

These packages will travel to a carefully selected group of galleries, institutions and potential collectors, introducing not only the artwork itself but the complete historical and archival presentation that surrounds it.

At the centre of the work is a cinematic interpretation of the moment Titanic encounters the iceberg… suspended at the threshold between possibility and catastrophe. Presented alongside it is a complete original edition of The Brantford Daily Expositor, published April 16, 1912, preserving an entire day in time from the world that witnessed the tragedy.

The collection also includes an extensively researched, gold-foil-stamped provenance volume, an antique brass magnifying glass and tailored British heritage handling gloves. Together, these elements transform the work from a single sculptural scene into a preserved historical experience.

Only two copies of the provenance volume will ever be printed. One will accompany the artwork and the other will remain permanently within the Art Encompassed archive. The collector’s volume will document the completed exhibition history, original acquisition and all future transfers, loans, exhibitions and locations throughout the life of the work.

Every detail of this presentation has been considered with the same care as the artwork itself. The mailers now being assembled are the next step in placing There But for the Grace of before those who understand its scale, its history and its purpose.

Creating work of this magnitude is only part of the journey. The other part is having the courage to send it outward… beyond the studio and toward the place where it ultimately belongs.
